Welcome to our website
We both moved from Adelaide to Melbourne back in November 2010 and, from that day to this, have enjoyed many wonderful meals and have had many memerable nights out.
The dining experiences we have had are wide ranging, from simple cheap eats to fine dining. We have enjoyed them all.
Click on the 'Places We've Been' tab for a comprehensive list of the places we have been (and some been to multiple times!!) and it is our ambition to continue to grow this list as time progresses.
For the most memorable places we will write a brief article to explain why we think it is so good.
We hope you enjoy our site. Please let us know about of any new and interesting places we are yet to visit.
Enjoy.
Nick and Kel.
My first update in a few months. Totally exhausted after eating and drinking with my dear friends Patricia and Henry (freaky deaky Dutchies)
They are heading for Sydney for a week. I am glad we had a few with the coat on before they left!!
We had a beautiful day in Mornington. Port Phillip Estate is an absolute must. Spectacular views....
...and then they took me out for a lovely meal at Noir on Swan Street, Richmond.
Steak Tartare and Waldorf Salad. Yum!
Here we go!
LP is in town so we are hitting up Rice Queen for dinner and then Everleigh for a few cocktails after that.
Stay tuned for an update on how it went......
The food at Rice Queen was great. There was a live band playing complete with Double Bass. Pork Belly, Peking Duck pancakes very yummy!
The cocktails at the Everleigh were amazing!! This place is fantastic. You dont pick what you want to drink, you simply tell the waiting staff the sort of thing you like to drink and leave the rest up to them.
Case and point....
Cognac, Bourbon, Orange Bitters and Manderine Liquor. Served with flamed Orange peel.
Delicious!
Home for a another quick drink while we wait for Chutney and Ribs to arrive.
Tomorrow out for brekky....Maybe Axil Coffee Roasters again (see below...)
What a long weekend.
Friday night unfolded like this...A few quick pints at Richmond Club Hotel where they have 'The Karma Keg'. Pints of Carlton Draught are free but you have to make a donation to the charity of the day. This is a 'pay what you want scenario'. I handed the money to the bar staff and asked that they just put what the pints normally cost into the jar. Apparently this doesn't happen often. The good karma soon came our way when we lined up at Fonda, an awesome little Mexican restaurant on Swan St, for dinner. We soon secured a table for four and ordered drinks to start us off...
The food was amazing. We ate an taco's, burritos and fried Pork scratchings. The Passionfruit Margaritas were delicious!!
Saturday was a quiet day in.
Sunday had a beautiful Chorizo and fried egg breakfast burrito accompanied by an Airpress filtered coffee using 100% Brazilian plantation beans.
Very tasty!
Tonight quiet night in. Kel and I are spending 9 hours today slow roasting a Lamb shoulder. I might open a bottle of red.
Au revior!
Dreaming of cheese on toast with eggplant kasundi and a side of bacon from Richmond Hill Cafe & Larder. This is best washed down with an espresso martini!!!
The last time Kel and I enjoyed this was with Catman and Tracey.
If you two are reading this can you come over to Melbourne so we can go back there with you?? many thanks.
Nick and Kel.
Coming up tonight....we are doing dinner at Penang Coffee House on Burwood Road with Miss Vivienne.
Thanks to this lady I am about to try the new Jack Daniel's Honey. Will update soon on the verdict...
...(several hours later)
OMG!!!! JD Honey is amazing!! It tastes like Jack has been infused with Maple syrup. Really delicious and quite sweet.
Its official release date is the 15th June 2012. This is a definite experience. Forget the honey spirits you have tried so far and get into this. I picture this to be best served with dessert, maybe some sort of Churro and chocolate combo. Well played JD!!
My policy has always been...The Original Old Number 7 Jack Daniel's with a few ice cubes is the only way to have it. If it was good enough for Frank Sinatra it is good enough for me.
That said I was pleasantly surprised with the JD Honey. It won't become my preferred drink but it will certainly remain in my drinking repertoire!
Thanks Viv.
Visitor's Log:
Soon we have Mr & Mrs Lady Pocket and as well as Chutney & Ribs.
This will mean that we are not only in store for a massive weekend but we are certain to try out somewhere new and exciting.
We have started putting together some ideas of places we can go and saving some pennies now.
I'm thinking maybe Supper Inn or maybe Hutong. There will definately be dumplings involved.
Maybe we can go to another race meeting Chutney???
